George Sheldon: Sunshine Express sends foster kids home for holidays

George Sheldon: Sunshine Express sends foster kids home for holidays

You may recall the children's tale "The Polar Express," but have you heard about what we like to call the Sunshine Express?

Note: I am directing you to this article. You need a subscription to view it. Deal with it or don't. Your choice.

Here is an article that knocked me off my feet, because it is not your typical holiday time kind of article. A group working to send foster children home for the holidays? Okay. All the power to them. I support their efforts and don't have a bad thing to say about it.

This article is different however.

How?

Here are a few examples of your normal holiday time kind of article.

I have nothing against these people and their efforts either, except that many of these groups do these things for the purpose of being able to put out a press release for the purpose of advertising.

I like the Sunshine Express idea though. It actually means something. The only thing that sucks about it is the fact that it is a tease for the kids. Go home for Christmas then take them back into foster care.

Still though. I like the idea.
