Governor O'Malley Announces Results of Reforms in Foster Care and Adoption System
Governor Martin O'Malley joined Lt. Governor Anthony Brown - an adoptive parent himself - as well as Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, foster families, advocates, community leaders and others to announce the results of the Governor'sPlace Matters initiative, a reform program for Maryland's child welfare system that focuses on finding permanent families for children in foster care. Standing in front of the home of Keith and Gladys Fisher, who have adopted two sets of three siblings, Governor O'Malley announced that in the last three years, since the Place Matters initiative was put in place, 8,760 Maryland children have found permanent homes through adoption, reunification, and guardianship.
Note: So you see folks, when a foster contractor, system suck, child protection worker, and pretty much any government official who is using their support for the child protective industry in an election year photo-opportunity comes to you and says, "We should all work together for reform," this is what they mean by the word Reform. "Make it easier to adopt, we want more money, more info, bla bla bla!!!"
They are not on your side, but willing to come to the table together in an effort to guard their own interests.
