Judge: Red tape prevents early childhood adoptions
Judge Galit Mor Vigodzki told the Be'er Sheva Conference for Child Welfare this week that large numbers of adoptable children are being forced to spend their early years in emergency shelters, due to lengthy legal deliberations on the removal of children from their homes. According to Mor Vigodzki, president of the Tel Aviv Juvenile Court, even in clear-cut cases where the court may declare the children eligible for adoption, lengthy procedures mean kids are put up for adoption only when they are older - thus reducing their chances of finding a new family.
