State still holds $1.2 million due to handicapped girl raped in Immokalee foster home
Darlene Achille juggles jobs to care for her mentally retarded sister and her 10-year-old niece, a child born after her teenage sister was repeatedly raped by a foster father in Immokalee.
After being sued in 2002 for not fully investigating rape and abuse complaints, the state Department of Children & Families admitted wrongdoing and agreed to settle the lawsuit for $1.3 million.
That was three years ago.
Note: Maybe they should implement some mob tactics on this.
