Our elected officials in state governments do not understand the "child abuse registers". They believe only people who have been convicted in a court of law are listed on same. Very few elected officials understand how common it is for innocent parents to be listed with this stigma. And-it doesn't stop at child care employment. Today, in order to work (or study) in any field of medicine, education, or law enforcement and to receive a security clearance for governemnt work requires a child abuse register check.
You can't drive a school bus, be a crossing guard or a school lunch matron or work for the NSA, CIA, FBI or NYPD or any other if you have an indicated report with the Child Abuse Register.
And, how have you been named? Because a social worker "thought" maybe there was credible evidence to place you o nthe register.
This process violates the 4th, 5th, 6th and 14th Amendments of the US Constitution. But, i nthe end, nothing is done because, again, our elected officials believe that only those CONVICTED i na court of law are placed on the list.
There needs to be a rallying point to once and for all, revamp these policies.
