Mario Keener loves nothing more than to walk out under the night skies, gazing at the stars and breaking into an easy lope that turns brisk, quickly. Picture it: Keener, age 20, sailing through the streets of San Jose, for one, two or even three hours at a time, night after night, running, walking, running, staring up at those big old palm trees, those stars — a free man.
