This story sounds quite sad, but it would be great news within the UK at the moment.
The Family Courts are in meltdown, due to the increase in Care Proceedings, which has occurred since the tragic death of Baby Peter.
There is a waiting list for Guardians to be appointed to Public Law cases, which in some areas of the UK.
Social Services are very reluctant to use the kin care clause highlighted in the Public Law Guidelines, by placing a child with immediate relatives, like Grandparents.
It would help in two ways.
The child would be a lot happier, and content living with somebody in the family, and would save the taxpayer large amounts of money, by using fewer foster carers.
