More sugar coated bullshit from David Isley of the Examiner

Emancipation: When a minor has achieved independence from his or her parents, often by getting married before reaching age 18 or by becoming fully self-supporting.

Note: Age out: When a foster child is thrown out on his ass, cut off from everything, on his own just because he or she turned 18.

I read through some of Mr. Isley's articles and I agree with what he has to say. For some reason, this bitch that is writing these reviews don't know what the hell she is yapping about. This is one messed up site with nothing but negativity.

She's pointing out that he's regurgitating a sales job for the ILS program. The program has a lot of flaws: college students (the few of them) are not supported properly, most of them would be housed with parents at least during the summers. Most foster children are tossed out out without any low cost housing while they attend college: this should be born by FC not welfare. They usually terminated the parents and foster children can't just rejoin their parents as if nothing happened in most cases because they can't find them anymore. And he doesn't acknowledge that CPS/FC had role in causing many of the psychological problems and should have to maintain some support for those who have them after they are 18. And foster kids wouldn't need ILS if they were allowed to keep their own money and property without it being lost or stolen by the system.

That reporter has a basic tendency to just report the pitch story without asking any real questions.
