Grandparent carers in fear from social service 'snoops'

Grandparent carers in fear from social service 'snoops'

Grandparents who bring up their children's children could be wrongly targeted in a campaign against unofficial foster parents, charities warned yesterday.

  1. It seems like the Local Authorities would rather use Foster carers, costing millions of pounds of the taxpayers money.
Foster Carers receive up to £500 per week per child.
The New Public Law Guidelines that came into practice on 1st April 2008, state that before a child is removed and placed into Care, the Kincareship clause should be used,by placing children with Grandparents or a immediate member of the family.
A recent Judgement at the High court in London, ruled that a Grandmother from Leicester, who was caring for her Daughters two children, should be given the same financial payment as a normal Foster Carer, a good decision, because many Grandparents suffer from financial hardship, with retrospect to this cause.
