Need a babysitter? Call a police officer
VULNERABLE children as young as three have been forced to sit in police stations in Victoria for up to eight hours while Department of Human Services staff sort custody paperwork.
Some police officers have become babysitters, feeding children who have been removed from their parents and are waiting for foster care.
