Foster child died from severe head blow, prosecutor says
Penny and Randall West held hands but otherwise showed no emotion as they listened to a prosecutor tell jurors about the death of a 16-month-old foster child they cared for.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this was not an accident," Deputy County Attorney Michelle Araneta told jurors Wednesday in her opening statement after telling how the child died after sustaining a severe blow to her head.
